SPIELfilm director’s cut follows the formalistic picture iconology of avant-garde film. In this case, the taboo of film narration in the experimental film is reduced to absurdity. Innumerable mainstream film-plots are condensed to captions. This creates a parade of text-pictures in which each one represents the synopsis of a certain movie. This adaptation shows the redundancy of the conventional fictional film in an ironic way, and is forcing a recall of the individual movie-memory of each recipient. These texts reduce movies to their plot, and in this way they become supposedly available. The hierarchy of film-still and film is reversed.

At a public spot (in the showcase of the Zoo Palast in Berlin) lobby cards of SPIELfilm director’s cut are presented.

SPIELfilm (director’s cut) orientiert sich formal an der Bildsprache des Avantgardefilms. Dabei wird jedoch die Tabuisierung der filmischen Narration im Experimentalkino ad absurdum geführt. Zwischentitel kondensieren zahllose Plots aus dem Mainstream-Kino. Dadurch entsteht eine Parade von Textbildern, wobei ein jedes die Inhaltsangabe eines Films liefert. Eine derartige Adaption führt die Redundanz des herkömmlichen Erzählkinos auf ironische Weise vor und spricht das je individuelle Filmgedächntis der Rezipienten unmittelbar an. Diese Texte reduzieren Filme auf ihre Handlung, wodurch sie vermeintlich verfügbar werden. Die Hierarchisierung von Standbild und Film wird umgekehrt.

An einem öffentlichen Ort (in den Vitrinen des Zoo Palasts in Berlin) werden diese Standfotos aus SPIELfilm director’s cut präsentiert
